Australian spot wholesale electricity prices fellsteadily in July and have fully removed the cost of thecountry’s tax on carbon dioxide emissions after thegovernment abolished the levy effective July 1, energyconsultancy Pitt & Sherry said Thursday.“The price drop reflected the delays in passing thelegislation and occurred gradually over the month, eventhough liability to pay the carbon price ended” on June30, said Hugh Saddler, principal consultant for energystrategies at Pitt & Sherry.
