Georgia legislature boosts spending on Savannah port expansion

Houston — Georgia’s state legislature has approved an additional $50 million for the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project, the Georgia Ports Authority in a statement Wednesday. The additional funds, approved as part of the state’s fiscal 2014 budget, will bring the total anticipated spending on the project to $652 million, with $231.1 million million coming from the state, once the budget is signed by Governor Nathan Deal.
