Iraq opens up nassiriya refinery for direct investment

Baghdad-Iraq’s oil ministry has put out a call for investors for the 300,000 b/d Nassiriya refin- ery in southern Iraq, likely separating it from a related oil field project being developed by the state’s South Oil Company. Oil minister Jabbar al-Luaibi said in a statement the “Nassiriya refinery [was] open for investment by local and foreign companies.” One of Iraq’s oil production capacity issues is that there is not enough domestic refining available to meet demand.
