UK refiners hedge their bets over post-Brexit oil trade

ANALYSIS London-At least some of the UK’s refiners, which are all owned by companies based overseas, appear sanguine over adapting to a UK outside the European Union following the dramatic referendum result last Friday. But most are hedging their bets over what the UK’s expected protracted and complex divorce from Brussels will mean for the flow of crude and refined products to the EU and beyond. Barring further political and constitutional surprises, the referendum vote is likely to be enacted by a reformed government this summer. Politically this leaves huge uncertainty over the UK’s trade relations with its European neighbors.
