Alaska eyes TransCanada’s share of gas projects

Anchorage—The state of Alaska is considering a takeover of TransCanada’s share of a large North Slope gas pipeline and LNG project being planned by North Slope producers, the state and, currently, TransCanada. Governor Bill Walker said he is weighing the option along with keeping TransCanada in the consortium under the current structure, under which the pipeline company would own a share of the pipeline and gas treatment plant on the North Slope. Under that scenario TransCanada would ship state-owned gas though its share of pipeline capacity.
