US crude exports rise to 288,000 b/d in May: EIA

New York—US Energy Information Administration monthly oil data for May was released Wednesday. Most notably, US crude exports climbed to 288,000 b/d, the highest level since April, 1999. Highlights of the data are below. US exported 288,000 b/d of crude in May, up from 268,000 b/d in April. Exports were last higher in April 1999 at 332,000 b/d. 8.14 million barrels were exported to Canada (263,000 b/d). 533,000 barrels were exported to Spain, likely the re-export of a Western Canadian Select cargo to Repsol. Switzerland, home to multiple commodity trading companies, took 262,000 barrels in May, up from 150,000 barrels in April.
