OMV hikes investment, enhances upstream focus

Vienna-Austria's OMV is increasing investment to almost Eur4 billion ($5.4 billion) per year in a bid to grow its upstream business, while continuing its efforts to streamline its down- stream activity, CEO Gerhard Roiss said Friday. "From Eur2.8 billion today, Eur3.9 billion will be invested every year to manage growth," Roiss said in Vienna at OMV's annual media summit. Roiss also said OMV's strategy was to focus increasingly on "stable" countries for its upstream, steering clear of politically unstable countries.
