Juba—South Sudan has suspended its Wednesday deadline to halt the pumping of oil via its northern neighbor Sudan after Khartoum pushed back its own deadline for shutting the export pipeline by 15 days to August 22. Despite Juba’s pledge to continue pumping oil, production has already been slashed to less than 75,000 b/d from as much as 200,000 b/d in anticipation of the closure of the export link.
