Seoul—State-run Korea National Oil Corp. plans to import 200,000 barrels of gasoline this year to supply discount fuel stations as part of an effort to rein in rising domestic oil prices, the energy ministry said September 7. This would be the first time that KNOC will be importing oil for the discount fuel stations. The company has until now been supplying these pumps with oil purchased from local refiners, but wants to boost supplies to the discount stations and hence has to rely on imports, according to a ministry official.
