摘要

Seoul—South Korea’s oil demand rose 9.9% year on year to 69.32 million barrels in June despite a government-led energy savings drive, data released July 23 by state-run Korea National Oil Corporation showed. The country’s oil consumption in June was also up 2.4% from May. South Korea unveiled a package of measures in May, including curbs on the use of cars and incentives to promote the use of natural gas and biofuel to rein in its growing oil demand. The government said then that the measures would save 26 million barrels of oil by 2015, equivalent to 20% of the country’s oil stockpiles of 130 million barrels.
