Woodside plans drilling for Pluto project gas

Kuala Lumpur—Australia’s Woodside Petroleum plans to drill three to four more wells before the end of the third quarter as it searches for gas to support expansion of its Pluto LNG project in Western Australia, CEO Peter Coleman said June 7 on the sidelines of the World Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Pluto, owned 90% and operated by Woodside, started up earlier this year and shipped its first LNG cargo to Japan in mid-May. The plant has a nameplate capacity of 4.3 million mt/year, and Woodside is aiming to eventually expand Pluto with the addition of a second production train.
