Iraq sets next date for oil deal challenge

Baghdad-Iraq's federal court February 1 set March 1 as the next date to hear a legal challenge against a contract signed by the Iraqi oil ministry with BP and China's CNPC for the further development of the giant Rumaila oil field.The suit was filed by Iraqi MP Sheda al-Mosawi against Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and oil minister Hussain al-Shahristani, claiming the Rumaila contract violated the Iraqi constitution and other laws requiring parliamentary approval for the contract.
