Kinder Morgan pipeline safety scrutinized

US regulators and officials from six western states are examining whether Kinder Morgan properly inspects its pipeline safety systems,as well as broader issues about the adequacy of federal pipeline integrity regulations.The Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) formed a multistate task force last month in response to a series of recent ruptures and potential safety threats along the Kinder Morgan products pipeline network.
