Concerns over emergency oil supplies are growing in South Korea as the government of the import-dependent country has failed to expand its strategic petroleum reserves this year due to ever-rising crude prices.Energy ministry officials admitted Sep 2 they did not buy any crude this year to add to the government's strategic stocks.The Ministry of Commerce,Industry and Energy had planned to buy 6-mil bbl of crude and 300,000 bbl of oil products this year to increase the government's stockpile to 80-mil bbl from the current 73.2-mil bbl.However,runaway oil prices throughout this year forced them to delay the purchases,MOCIE officials said.
