Chinese primary aluminium production has increased rapidly over the past few months as greenfield smelters in northwest China continued to ramp up production. CNIA reported that annualised primary aluminium production in China reached a record high of 23.7mt in October. However, the actual level of production is still above what the CNIA has reported due to output not being recorded, mainly in Shandong province. CRU estimates China's primary aluminium production to reach an annualised rate of 25.5mt in Q4 2013 (up 10.4% y-o-y).
