Bayer MaterialScience Advances Project For CO2-Based Polvols at Dormagen

Leverkusen— Bayer MaterialScience plans to invest ?15-million to build a production line for carbon dioxide (C02)-based polyols at its Dormagen, Germany, site (PCN, 29 July 2013, p 1). The new line, with a production capacity of 5,000 t/y, is expected to be available on the market starting in 2016. Bayer developed the manufacturing process in collaboration with partners and academia, as part of the "Dream Production" project. The process was tested extensively and successfully in a pilot plant at Leverkusen, and was accompanied by a "promising" market demand study.
