US July Gas Retreats on Cooler Forecast

US July gas futures fell a few cents Friday as the market weighed the recent string of anemic storage injections against a significantly cooler shift in weather forecasts last week. The July contract, which will roll off the board Tuesday, held on to a 1.5% weekly gain, ending the week in the mid-$2.60s. The contract rallied early last week, climbing 4.7% to the mid-$2.70s as summer heat builds in the eastern US and supportive weather forecasts called for hot weather in the Midwest to move into the Northeast.
