NPD tells operators to raise extraction game

NORWEGIAN authorities are urging operators such as Statoii and ConocoPhillips to step up investments in the country's large, ageing fields to extract as much oil as possible before it is too late, writes Beate Schjolberg. An overall recovery rate of 46% is too low, said Bente Nyland, director of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD). She fears oil worth billions of kroner will be left untapped at a time when new finds are too small to make up for a rapid slide in production.
