Gold forecast to break US$2,000/oz by year-end

INVESTMENT demand is expected to drive the gold price through US$2,000/oz before the end of the calendar year. This was according to the first update of the 2011 GFMS Gold Survey by Thomson Reuters, which acquired the London-based commodity consultancy in August. Investment demand, in all forms, was expected to reach a new record of 1,000t in the second half of the year, compared with a first-half figure of 624t.
