Dutch MEP warns that Europe is opening door to GE meat and fish

A Dutch member of the European Parliament, Kartika Liotard, has criticized the European Commission for opening the door to genetically engineered meat and fish, EU Food Law reports. In a July 11 statement on her Dutch-language website (www.kartikaliotard . eu/) Liotard points to guidance on risk assessment for GE animals that the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published earlier this year as well as a letter from the Commission she says opens the door to fish, meat, milk and other food products from GE animals.
