FDA to review banning BPA in infant formula packaging; wider ban rejected

FDA says it will review a petition Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.) submitted in March aiming to ban bisphenol A (BPA) in infant formula packaging, but it won't review two similar petitions Markey filed concerning reusable containers and canned food and beverages.Now that the petition officially has been filed, FDA is required to publish it in the Federal Register within 30 business days and is required to respond within 90 business days after filing. It can extend the response deadline an additional 90 business days.
