Exxon hits Colombia oil

ExxonMobil discovered conventional and unconventional oil with the Mono Arana-1 (Spider Monkey-1) exploration well in Colombia’s Middle Magdalena Valley. The well was spudded on 23 September 2012 and was drilled to a depth of 9,942ft (3,030m) to test the potential of a shallow conventional Tertiary Lisama sandstone reservoir and deeper shale and carbonate reservoirs in La Luna and Tablazo oil source rocks.
