Ineos Ships First US Ethane Cargo to Europe

The Ineos Intrepid left Sunoco Logistics' Marcus Hook terminal near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, late Wednesday with its first cargo of ethane extracted from US shale gas. The shipment is bound for Ineos' facility in Norway. The "dragon" class ship is carrying 27,500 cubic meters of ethane to Rafnes in Norway, where Ineos has built an ethane storage tank capable of storing 19,000 tons of liquefied gas. Ineos expects shipments of US ethane to its other gas storage facility at Grangemouth in Scotland to start in the second half of this year.
