Energy-Starved Egypt Issues New Tender for LNG Import Terminal

In its latest attempt to overcome chronic shortages in domestic gas supply, Egypt has issued a tender for a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), which it hopes to bring into service by next April. This would see Egypt become the fourth LNG importer in the Middle East after the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Israel, while Jordan is planning to import the super-chilled gas from 2015.
