KBR Hired for Rosneft Petchems

Russia's Rosneft has chosen engineering giant KBR as technical consultant for the construction of a petrochemical complex -the Eastern Petrochemical Co. -on the Russian Pacific coast. Work on the $10 billion plant, which will mainly produce polymers and polypropylenes for the Asian market, is scheduled to start next year, and KBR is tasked with choosing the right technologies. The KBR contract value has not been disclosed, with Rosneft saying only it will spend some 5 billion rubles ($179 million) on the project this year.
