The operator of the UK's main gas and power transmission networks has published its preliminary Winter Consultation Report for 2011/12 looking forward to the coming winter - from October to March - but also reviewing last winter. December 2010 was the coldest December on record in the UK, National Grid says, although the winter overall was "average," as other months were relatively warm. For gas, the highest demand day was Dec. 20, 2010 - also the coldest day of the winter - at 465 MMcm (16.41 Bcf), the second-highest demand day on record. Nine of the highest 20 demand days occurred last December.
