Peru LNG Faces Legal Battle

Gas producers in Peru’s large Camisea field are evaluating their responses to a legal decision earlier this month that raises questions about the future of LNG exports from the country. In mid-December, a Lima court ruled that two presidential decrees, which allow exports of natural gas from Camisea’s Block 88, have no legal standing. The decrees date to 2005 and 2006 and were issued by then- President Alejandro Toledo.
