Petrofac Forges Ahead in Turkmenistan

International oil and gas contractor Petro- fac said Wednesday it that has started work on the second phase of its project at the South Yolotan gas field in Turkmenistan, even though industry sources say overall de- velopment of the supergiant deposit is being held up by lack of cash. Petrofac, listed on the FTSE 100 index on the London Stock Exchange, said in a state- ment that it “confirms that following success- ful completion of the first phase of the South Yolotan project for Turkmengas, the state- owned national gas company of Turk- menistan, it has commenced work on the sec- ond phase of the project, worth $3.4 billion.”
