A solution to the quality assurance challenge is presented. The visual check for the model adequately describing the relationship between the pairs of values x, y can be visually realized by the residual analysis. In addition to this graphical test, it is necessary to apply a mathematical test for linearity. According to Mandel the residual error is calculated for a quadratic regression function. In addition to the Mandel test, the test of the significance of the quadratic regression coefficient a _2 can be used for the linearity check.
