U.S. West Coast waterfront employers have voted to ratify a five-year labor contract with 20,000 dockworkers, with only ratification from the union remaining to bring an end to a yearlong dispute. The new contract with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) features an enhanced arbitration system designed to support waterfront stability, capacity growth and productivity, as well as healthcare changes that will foster efficiency, cost containment and fraud prevention, The Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) said. The agreement also features wage and pension increases for ILWU members, it said.
