German speciality chemicals company, Lanxess, has begun operations at its new polyamide plastics in Antwerp, Belgium. The world-scale facility is designed for a capacity of around 90,000-tpa and represents an investment volume of ?75-mn. Lanxess said all plastics manufactured at Antwerp will be processed within its global network of compounding facilities into the final Durethcm-brand products. The new plant has been built in the direct vicinity of the facility for producing caprolac-tam-the key intermediate-operated by the Group in Antwerp.
