IOC close to completing naphtha cracker and downstream polymer project at Panipat

IOC is all set to commission its, Rs. 14,439-crore naphtha cracker and downstream polymer project at Panipat Refinery by March 2010. As of December, 2009, while the utility boiler-1 (VB-1) was commissioned, the UB-2 was lighted up on December 29, 2009. Four out of a total of five gas turbines have been synchronised and full load trial has been taken. Work on the steam turbine generator (STG) is also progressing apace, with the first STG, out of a total of three, synchronised on December 11, 2009. In addition, out of a total of five heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs), two have been commissioned, while flue gas has been taken inside the HRSG-3. The captive power plant (CPP) being constructed by L&T is also nearing the commissioning stage.
