India is one of the world's fastest growing significant economies.Average annual GDP growth rate over the last five years was healthy at 6%.GDP growth target for the next Five Year Plan is 7% per annum.Reflecting changes in the economic environment,the vegetable oil complex,representing a significant part of agribusiness,has witnessed considerable changes in business conditions over the last few years in the wake of economic liberalisation.It is with this background an attempt has been made to assess the current and future drivers of oils & fats supply and demand,and to examine their effect on global trade.
