Rosneft to form JV for world-scale petchem complex in Russia

Rosneft (Moscow) and SamaraNefte-OrgSintez (Sanors; Novokuibyshevsk, Russia) on 21 June signed a heads of agreement, under which the companies intend to create a joint venture that will incorporate Rosneft's gas-processing assets and San-ors's petrochemical assets in Russia's Samara and Orenburg regions. One of the jv's main objectives will be to build a world-scale petrochemical complex in the Samara region, Rosneft says. The complex "will be focused on import substitution and meeting growing domestic demand for key polymers and other chemicals able to meet market competition in terms of quality and technologies," Rosneft adds. The planned complex, and Sanors's existing petrochemical production, will be integrated with Rosneft's oil and gas production and refining facilities, in Samara and Orenburg, under the terms of the heads of agreement.
