Reach Blacklist of 200 Chemicals Sparks Substitution Concerns

The publication last week of a list of more than 200 chemicals identified as being substances of very high concern (SVHC) by environmental group ChemSec (Gothenburg, Sweden) has sent a shockwave through chemical industry customers and downstream users of chemicals, encouraging them to press for the substitution of the listed chemicals. Multinational suppliers of consumer goods such as Dell and Sony Ericsson have pledged to use the list as a way of avoiding the use of certain chemicals in their manufacturing processes.
