Corrosion of steel reinforcement is typically the limiting factor in the design life of reinforced concrete structures. The use of Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bars as a substitute for traditional steel reinforcement eliminates this factor, due to their non-corrosive properties, consequently extending the design life of the structure.
