Current Situation and hot issues of HACCP system enforcement in Japan

In Japan, the voluntary HACCP system based on Food Sanitation law was introduced in 1995. Since five years have passed and various problems in a HACCP system are becoming clear after introducing a HACCP system, some of problems are reported. One is that the verification subsystem is not sufficiently functioning in a HACCP system. Therefore, the efficiency of the whole system cannot be increased, but the system has many useless portions. The 2nd is that hazard analysis is not fully carried out. The 3rd is a problem about the relation of Quality Control (QC) operation on the spot and validation in pre-requisite program. In addition, I also introduce about some cases of the accident occurred in some plants that which have obtained the approval of HACCP system.
