Aiming at ignition in inertial confinement fusion (ICF), the national ignition facility (NIF) in the U.S. is now under construction with a driver energy of about 2 MJ [1]. Even higher energy will be required for high gain experiments. Such a high gain design will be made first by numerical simulations, and its feasibility is then expected to be demonstrated experimentally with a reduced-scale system as is often the regular tactics to study the basic dynamical behavior of a miniature of a full-sized system. One should know then how to design such a miniature system and to judge to which extent the two systems are similar with each other.
