EVRES - using virtual reality technology to increase effectiveness in shipbuilding

Low cost, short length of run and secure technological solutions are fundamental conditions in guaranteeing competitiveness of the German shipbuilding industry with the global market. Only high-quality ships that meet the growing demands of operating authorities make it possible to reach a worldwide leading position. A method of technological preparatory and the management of production and installation is needed for all partners involved. They have to be able to influence the process of planning and manufacturing in a rapid, economical and confident way. Currently, the leading shipyards and their supply and service industry make use of 3D CAD systems connected to a highly automated production to solve this problem.
