Recently, due to the increased preservation efforts, large amounts of past Web data have been stored in Web archives and other archival repositories. Utilizing this data can offer numerous benefits to users, for example, it can facilitate page understanding, browsing or bookmarking, The International Internet Preservation Consortium has listed potential usage cases of Web archives such as searching for lost content, analyzing page evolution, etc. In this paper, we propose an approach towards interactive exploration of page histories using data extracted from Web archives such as the Internet Archive1. We demonstrate an application called Page History Explorer (PHE) for summarizing and visualizing histories of Web pages. PHE portrays the overview of page evolution, characterizes its typical content over time and lets users observe page histories from different viewpoints. In addition, it enables flexibly comparing the histories of selected pages. We think that the proposed system can improve credibility evaluation of web pages by offering concise overviews of page historical content and its evolution.
