As manufacturing companies become more and more decentralized, collaborative technologies have tremendous potential to facilitate teamwork, improve workflow, speed information exchange, and keep the process running smoothly. Indeed, the dispersed operations many organizations now envision will increasingly depend on such Web-based tools to avoid communication bottlenecks associated with sending documents back and forth via mail delivery or faxes, discussing them over the phone, or bringing everyone together for face-to-face meetings.
