摘要

A giant magnetostrictive material (GMM) is a magnetic material with large magnetostriction and an electro-mechanical coupling factor. Therefore, the GMM can be used as a Giant Magnetostrictive Actuator (GMA). This paper describes the analysis and improvement of power loss in the actuator as well as the following findings. (1) The structure of the Tandem GMA (T-GMA), and the principles of operation are shown. (2) Calculation of copper loss and iron loss of the GMA is shown. (3) Improvement of thermal expansion from the re-design of the actuator is shown.
