B&G MACHINE EXPANDS OVERHAUL CAPACITY: Sixth machining center established for large engine blocks

B&G Machine has added a sixth block machining center capable of handling 4000 hp-plus (2983 kW-plus) engines to its machine shop in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A. "We're seeing an influx due to the demands in the mining industry and especially the oil and gas industry - specifically hydraulic fracking," said David Bianchi, vice president of sales and marketing, B&G Machine. "As we look down those paths with the current workload we have, as well as what we're forecasting, we needed to expand our capabilities in both our block department and our cylinder head department." The company said it has been working closely with the OEMs and direct customers that are servicing the energy markets and tracking where their engines have been sold and when those engine overhauls are going to pop up. "The demands based on the OEM models in the field are such that we know a wave of work is coming in. We are positioning ourselves to align with that," Bianchi said.
