Indices of linkage disequilibrium were estimated for 19 settlements at Primorye, Russia. Six highly polymorphic protein loci were analysed: aspartate aminotransferase (Aat), esterase D (EstD-2), glucosephosphate isomerase (Gpi), octopine dehydrogenase (Odh), phosphoglucomutase (Pgm) and an unidentified muscle protein (Gp-1). To estimate linkage disequilibrium for all pair-wise combinations, 2 methods were used: (1) estimation of the composite coefficient of genotypic disequilibrium DELTAAB and (2)the exact permutation test for genotypic disequilibrium. The use of the composite coefficient did not reveal disequilibrium in any of the settlements. The exact permutation test detected disequilibrium in the most southern settlement, in the vicinity ofFuruhelm Island. Previous work has demonstrated gene frequencies at this settlement significantly different from those at all other Primorye settlements, which exhibited similar allele frequencies at all loci studied. The genotypic disequilibrium detected in the Furuhelm settlement was explained by the inflow of larvae from another population genetically different from the Primorye settlement.
