摘要

Transpiration cooling is an efficient cooling method for turbine blades. The suggested configuration consists of two perforated plates sandwiching a number of pins, which can enlarge the effective heat transfer area, and utilizes impingement cooling to enhance the interior heat transfer. CFD and experimental measurements using a large-scaled model were carried out to investigate the heat and mass transfer characteristics. The results identified some high heat transfer areas other than impingement points, and the optimum pin height for the average heat transfer coefficients. Since the analytical results almost corresponded to the experimental values, CFD is valuable as a design tool.
