摘要

A simple mechanical model for predicting in-planeelastic module and coefficients of thermal expansion of compositesusing orthogonal 3-D textile reinforcement is proposed in the presentwork based on the constituent material properties. The theoreticalprocedure starts after determination of badic mechanical properties ofunidirectional composites as the constituents of 3-D textilecomposites. An establishment of the model automatically leads to theapproximate formulae for the prediction. The procedure isconstructed by the combination of parallel and serial linkage of theUD composite and pure epoxy blocks. The predicted elastic modulus,in-plane shear modulus and coefficient of thermal expansion ofTyranno/epoxy 3-D composite system were compared withexperimental tesults and numerical results obtained fromhomogenization finite element analysys. An agreement between themis basically excellent. A simple formula to predict elastic and thermalexpansion behavior of 3-D composites is well described with some limitation.
