Lateral rectus resection versus medial rectus re-recession for residual esotropia: early results of a randomized clinical trial: comment

We read with great interest the article by Rajavi et al. The authors describe a randomized control trial comparing lateral rectus resection and medial rectus re-recession for residual esotropia. Theauthors did not describe the technique of randomization of this study.Although the authors provided a detailed account of the preop-erative details of the patients, results would have been more meaningful if they had also provided intraoperatiye details of the position of the medial rectus in the individual cases. This could have provided the basis for developing a nomogram and testing the validity of the Mims regression table in cases of residual esotropia.
