Now in service for more than 30 years, Sukhoi's Su-27 has proven to be such a good platform that its upgraded fighter variants will remain the most numerous Russian combat aircraft for several decades to come. This detailed briefing presents the latest fighter 'Flankers', starting with the two-seat Su-30. IN EARLY APRIL 2016 the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) placed an order with the Irkut Corporation for 36 Su-30SM fighters. It was Moscow's sixth contract for the Su-30SM in just four years, underscoring a real success story. Since March 23, 2012, these deals have amounted to an impressive total of 116 new fighters.
