Review: Knowledge and practices of folate and multivitamin supplementation among Jordanian pregnant women

摘要

The author is exploring a useful and relevant topic to the women's health and obstetric communities. This study outlines the needs assessment that was completed with this population of women and helps to define the interventions that would best fill the current gap. There is, according to the study, a high percentage of infants, 6.5/1000 live births in this area, born with neural tube defects. In most developed countries, the average rate of these types of defects is 1/1000 live births. This presents the opportunity to increase awareness, develop interventions and to see positive outcomes in the reduction of neural tube defects.
