摘要

It is our pleasure to discuss the comments indicated by Holmes-Truscott and Speight in their Letter to the Editor related to our article. The authors were concerned about the perceived "inaccurate and unhelpful language" of our article that gave them the impression of patients being blaming for their diabetes outcome. As an example the term "persistent poor diabetes control" was considered as "derogatory language," which should be avoided, among others. The authors highlighted their own article in which they claimed to have developed a "new language for diabetes" and asked for "more accurate and fair-minded language in future communications about people with diabetes."
